About the gang

The Wine Gang is about four wine critics. As well as myself, this includes David Williams of The Observer, Anthony Rose of The Independent and Joanna Simon of House & Garden.

What do we do every month?
We review more than 200 wines. Between us every month we taste thousands of wines and our analysis and we hope that our reviews empower our subscribers to buy smarter and drink better. Reviews are sent out in an e-mail newsletter – you should sign up!

What do we do every year?
We host events. All-singing, all-dancing wine festivals. Tables and tables of different and delicious wines from local high street merchants to the big supermarkets giving everyone hundreds of options to try.

Last yeat for the first time ever we hosted a SUMMER FESTIVAL. Yes, wine! In the summer! In London! It was epic, and so good we’re doing another this summer too. Watch this space for more details (to be announced VERY soon).

Our usual festivals are still happening in the lead up to Christmas though. Last year I was super-chuffed we spread The Wine Gang festival love to the north of England for the first time, so as well as our usual pit stops of London, Bath and Edinburgh, we alos went to Leeds, and everyone had the best time. What a city. Come join us this year too!

Click here to see the fabulous winter billing we had at the end of last year, plus there’s a link here from The Wine Gang Festivals 2014 to get a flavour of what they’re all about.

What else is happening in 2017?

Good question, because we also host Ultimate Evenings, small curated evenings with a devastatingly good line-up of wines. Again, dates are so nerly ready to be released. Keep checing back here for more.

Our last Ultimate evening was the Ultimate Champagne Evening in December 2016 where we had such a serious line-up of houses, Bollinger, Salon, Armand de Brignac, Ruinart and Dom Pérignon. And there’ll be another amazing line-up this year too.

Back to our newsletter and reviews – So what makes The Wine Gang different?
Well, we’re 100% independent with our reviews and don’t accept advertising, so there’s no conflict of interest. We are a team but we’re nothing like a bland committee, in fact it sounds nerdy but we often calibrate our palates and cross-check our wine findings.

Plus, we promise to only review a wine if it’s possible to actually buy it in the UK, and we cover everything from everyday bottles to some of the finest wines imaginable, but realistically most of the wines we cover are in the £6-£25 mark. In short, our expert and independent assessments gives people the in-depth knowledge to buy wine with confidence.

£1.66
That’s the breakdown cost of our annual membership! Crazy cheap isn’t it?

We *know* this modest fee will be re-paid many times over as you buy and drink better wines and learn of all those fabulous bargains we talk about. Click below to read a bit more and sign up to our free trial, you won’t regret it!
